Economics Mr. Cadenasso Text: Economics; Principles in Action
Homework: Homework will be done neatly and with complete sentences. All questions must be answered for full credit. ½ credit will be given for an assignment with at least ¾ of the questions answered. No late work will be accepted except in the case of an excused absence. In the case of an excused absence, you have as many days as you are absent to make up the work. It is your responsibility to get the assignments. Homework assignments will be listed on the calendar on the front table, check it when you return from an absence. Homework will count for 25% of your overall grade. Part of the homework grade is a stock portfolio tracking assignment and this must be completed to pass the class.
Tests: Tests will be given at the end of each chapter or two. Some chapters will also have a vocabulary quiz. If you miss a test because of an excused absence, you have three days to make it up. If a test is not made up in three days it will be scored a zero. Tests will count for 75% of your overall grade with 20% from the final and 55% from the chapter tests and quizzes.
Attendance and Classroom Behavior: It is important that you come to class every day and arrive on time. All school policies regarding attendance will be strictly enforced. Eight unexcused absences will result in failure of the course. Three tardies are equal to an unexcused absence. Students may also be assigned lunchtime detention for excessive tardies. You will be allowed to make up any work missed as a result of an unexcused absence or tardy, but you will receive a score of zero. All students are expected to be studious and respectful during class. Any student talking during an exam will receive a score of zero. Any student cheating on an exam, in order to improve their grade or that of any other student, will receive a score of zero and your semester grade will be reduced by 10 percent. A second offense will result in failure of the course. No personal electronic devices are to be out while in class. Only water may be consumed in the class and bathroom passes will be given only in the case of an emergency.
Grades: A 90%+
B 80-89%
C 70-79%

Please come see me before school or at brunch or lunch if you do not understand the material. Don’t wait too long before asking for help. Sometimes just a few minutes asking questions can clear up misunderstood material and lead to an improved grade in the class.
